2014 has been a busy year for Rocket Internet’s property classifieds site Lamudi. The company operated in about 12 emerging nations back in 2013, and now it is running in 28 countries across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. The number of its property listings has also grown from 63,000 in 2013 to 800,000 today.
Lamudi is a platform to find and promote properties for sale and rent. Users can search based on location, pricing, and building types (ie. apartment, house, and land). Global co-founder and managing director Kian Moini breaks down a few milestones they’ve achieved in Asia:
- Lamudi Indonesia has 150,000 listings.
- Lamudi Pakistan has 130,000 listings.
- House.com.mm (Lamudi’s Myanmar brand name) has 18,000 listings in Myanmar.
- Lamudi Bangladesh has 15,000 listings.
- Lamudi Philippines claims to provide the highest number of leads per client in the Philippines. The company has 85,000 listings.
It’s tough to compare the number of property listings between Lamudi and its rivals, because each company has its own policy and duration for live property listings. But for comparison’s sake, here are some of the strong competitors that Lamudi is facing on all fronts:
- In Indonesia, rivals UrbanIndo1 and Rumah have 320,000 and 250,000 listings, respectively.
- In Pakistan, rival Zameen looks to have 210,000 listings.
- In Myanmar (according to SimilarWeb), iMyanmarHouse’s traffic is closely tailing behind House.com.mm.
- In Bangladesh, Bikroy has more than 34,000 property ads.
- In the Philippines, Property24 and OLX Philippines have 320,000 and 440,000 property listings respectively.
Some of the highlights Lamudi had in 2014 include launching mobile apps, unveiling first magazine in Pakistan called Lamudi Property Now. The Rocket Internet-backed company also released thorough real estate reports on each of its operating countries. In December, Lamudi rolled out new responsive design to target mobile users in all countries in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
In 2015, the company plans to launch in more countries as well as executing “big content projects”.
